Short Sleigh Ride (10 min)
A short sleigh ride with Finnhorse. We drive near SCV and you can enjoy the old-time atmosphere. The ride takes about 10 minutes and is suitable for almost everyone from baby to grandpa. Are you ready to sing some Christmas song's?
In snowless times, the ride can be carried out in a wagon.
You can buy a ticket in advance for a specific day, in which case you can board by presenting the ticket to the driver. Tickets are also sold at the departure point if the day's departures are not fully booked in advance.
The departure point is located at Aurora Horses.

Traditional Finnhorse Sleigh Ride (30 min)
Step into the timeless atmosphere of Lapland on a traditional sleigh ride led by a gentle Finnhorse.
Wrapped in warm blankets, you can settle into the sleigh and enjoy the peaceful rhythm of the horse as you travel through the snowy surroundings of Santa Claus Village. Away from the hurried pace of everyday life, there is time to admire the winter landscape, breathe in the crisp Arctic air and listen to the soft sound of hooves and sleigh runners moving across the snow.
The Finnhorse is Finland’s national horse and an important part of the country’s rural heritage. Strong, calm and dependable, these beloved horses have worked alongside Finnish people for generations. During the experience, you will have an opportunity to meet your Finnhorse and discover a small piece of this living tradition.
The unhurried 30-minute ride is suitable for couples, families and guests of all ages. It offers an authentic and relaxing way to experience the beauty of a Lapland winter—without engines, noise or rush.

Please note: The sleigh ride requires sufficient snow. If snow conditions do not allow the use of a sleigh, the experience may be operated by horse-drawn carriage.

The experience begins at the stable, where you meet your gentle Finnhorse and watch as the horse is prepared for the journey. Your guide introduces you to traditional Finnish harnessing and shares stories about the Finnhorse—Finland’s national horse and a trusted companion of Finnish people for generations.
Once the harness is secured and the sleigh is ready, it is time to climb aboard. Wrapped in warm blankets, you leave the lights of Santa Claus Village behind and follow the quiet forest paths said to be known by Santa himself.
The sleigh glides between snow-covered trees while the steady sound of hooves sets a peaceful rhythm. There are no engines and no rush—only the gentle movement of the sleigh, the crisp Arctic air and the deep silence of the winter forest. Along the way, you may notice the tracks of reindeer, hares or foxes crossing the snowy trail.
After the ride, the warmth of a traditional Finnish kota awaits. Gather around the fire with your guide and enjoy a hot drink, gingerbread cookies and marshmallows. This is a moment to relax, ask questions and hear more about the Finnhorse, local traditions and life with horses in Lapland.

In order for our customers to have the opportunity to see the Northern Lights during the trip, this experience is only available upon request and the final reservation must be made at least a week in advance. This will give us some idea of the prevailing weather conditions.
You will enjoy the dark snowy forest and beautiful silence, sleigh ride with Finnhorses under warm blankets and search for the Northern Lights. Let’s go through the magical forests of Lapland! You might see deer, reindeer, moose, hares, foxes or notice that they have just crossed the path completely silently, leaving only traces in the snow. Sleigh ride duration is about 40 minutes.
You also have the opportunity to see harnessing for traditional work harnesses and hear the story of the Finnhorse.
If you are not so interested in moving in the forest, you can enjoy the evening in the Finnish way staring at the fire and roasting sausages by the campfire. Listening to silence calms even the busiest mind.
Remember that the Northern Lights are a natural phenomenon. No one can guarantee that they will appear.
